I agree with the OP's idea that if you think a POS is going to be a target, instead of dismantling completely, take everything you actually care out of it and make it into as much of a nuisance to reinforce as you can. With precautions (adding the aggressors to watch list, doing this at an unusual time, etc) it may have worked. Still, better to go down in a blaze of glory
